South Korea is a country with limited fossil energy resources. Its main resource is coal, which accounts for 97.3% of its energy balance. Renewable reserves such as solar and wind energy offer great potential. However, the country relies heavily on energy imports to cover its domestic consumption, which reached 12.43 exajoules in 2023.
